Yamaha PW50 Kids’ Dirt Bike

The Yamaha PW50 is one of the world’s most recognised kids’ dirt bikes and has introduced generations of young riders to motorcycling. Lightweight, simple to operate and designed specifically for beginners, it is an excellent first motorcycle for children learning the basics of off-road riding.

Powered by a responsive 49cc air-cooled two-stroke engine, the PW50 features a fully automatic transmission with no clutch or gear changes required. Its easy twist-and-go operation allows young riders to concentrate on balance, steering and braking while gradually developing their confidence.

An adjustable throttle limiter allows parents to control the bike’s performance to suit the rider’s experience. As their skills and confidence improve, the available throttle can be gradually increased.

With a low 475mm seat height and a lightweight 41kg design, the PW50 is manageable for smaller riders. Its bicycle-style handlebar controls place the front brake on the right and rear brake on the left, creating a familiar and straightforward layout for beginners.

Yamaha’s Autolube system automatically supplies oil to the engine, removing the need to premix oil with the fuel. The fully enclosed shaft-drive system is clean, quiet and requires less regular maintenance than a conventional chain drive, making ownership easier for parents.

Long-lasting steel wheels, wide off-road tyres and compact suspension help provide stable and predictable handling across suitable grass and dirt riding areas. Tough Yamaha Blue bodywork gives the PW50 the appearance of a genuine Yamaha off-road motorcycle.
